Be A Pin Up!

Be a Pin Up was a recent show stopper in London, where Lulu Guiness had installed an interactive life-sized pin-up board in the city. She invited everyone to try their own creativity with the piece and when you'll look at the images below, you'll know how exciting and intriguing the whole project was.

George Michael–True Faith

Symphonica

George Michael is returning to the stage in 2011 with Symphonica: The Orchestral Tour!

Me and my bff thought tickets would not sell that fast in the Netherlands. We could not be more wrong. The first concert was sold out in 15 minutes and the second in about half hour. Last Friday I only checked to see what prices and seats were available. I could not get trough and I immediately called my bff to check if she had bought tickets. We both tried to get tickets and luckily we did.

Lenny Kravitz - I Belong To You

From the Album 5, the fifth studio album released in 1998.

I loved this album and album cover. I even had a large size poster that traveled with me to three houses I lived in.

lenny

I belong to you was the third single released  from the album 5. The music video, directed by Mark Seliger and Fred Woodward, was shot in February 1998. It also should be noticed that Kravitz does not have his dreadlocks anymore since this video.

Box of Tricks

Gary Chang, a Hong Kong architect, lives in a tiny apartment, but thanks to accordion-like wall units, he can create at least 24 different room configurations.

Using shifting wall units suspended from steel tracks bolted into the ceiling, the apartment becomes all manner of spaces — kitchen, library, laundry room, dressing room, a lounge with a hammock, an enclosed dining area and a wet bar.

The walls in the apartment's main room, awash in yellow because of tinted windows, are pushed against the wall to the left to create an open space, with CDs to the left and the desk to the right.

Behind one movable wall of shelving is an extra-large Duravit bathtub. A glass shower stall doubles as a steamroom with color therapy and massage and a Toto toilet has a heated seat and remote control bidet. Sound emanates from a six-speaker home entertainment system.

Song of the week.

I wanted to do a new thing called song of the week. As I was searching for the first song of the week it became more like the album of the week. So here it is: Cindy Lauper – A night to remember.

When I was a bit younger (well a lot younger )I rented this album from the library. I loved it from the start and still love this great album. The album did not do as well as her previous albums and neither the recording industry or casual fans took much interest in the project. The album's lead single, "I Drove All Night" became a moderate hit, and at year's end it earned her a Grammy nomination.
I drove all night
My first night without you
Heading west
A night to remember

How Spotify Works

I found this interesting article about Spotify.

  • User clicks a track to listen to.
  • If it’s in the cache, Spotify just starts playing it from there.
  • Otherwise, the Spotify client requests the first 15 seconds of the track from the Spotify servers so that playback can start as soon as possible.
  • At the same time, the client starts looking for the track on the peer-to-peer network.
  • The rest of the track is streamed, from a combination of multiple sources if available (cache, multiple peers, Spotify servers). The more popular a track is, the more likely it will be streamed using the p2p network instead of the Spotify servers.
  • When the track has 30 seconds to go, the Spotify client begins searching the p2p network for the next track.
  • When the track has 10 seconds to go, if it hasn’t found the next track on the network yet, the client starts pre-fetching it from the Spotify servers.

More information can be found here.

Things you've always wanted to know but have been afraid to ask…

Capture_2
Maybe above is one of them.

The surrealist bridges of Google Earth

The satellite imagery used in Google Earth is captured in 2D. The terrain that it covers is rendered in 3D. Sometimes those disparate layers don't line up, and sometimes those results can be quite compelling. Artist Clement Valla has collected some of the most striking examples in an online gallery called "Postcards from Google Earth, Bridges."
