Brad Pitt

Steven Klein Case Study

Thank you Hex Hector!

Thank god there are remixes of songs. Jennifer Lopez has new song called “Fresh out the oven” I think it’s a horrible song. But then there is Hex Hector, his remix turns a crappy song into something what is danceable in a club. Thank you Hex for the art of remixing and deleting the crappiest parts of the song. Judge for yourself.

Mixing YouTube

I read about a website where you can mix your own Youtube clips. The website can be found here.
For some reason I had some problems searching for other clips, but maybe my browser is not supported.

Ivri Lider

About two years ago I saw the movie Jossi and Jagger. I love this movie by Eytan Fox. (I can recommend it) But it's not about the movie. The theme song is from Ivri Lider. A beautiful song called "Bo". It's in Hebrew and I cannot understand a word. Since then I listened to a lot of his songs. Still cannot understand it but maybe thats one of the reasons I like it so much. Not knowing just feeling...
Here is one of his songs called Melatef VeMeshaker.

My old house

Long live google maps and street view. Since this week my city (‘s-Hertogenbosch) can be viewed in street view. I think it’s a nice feature and fun to search for places you’ve been before. I searched for my old house in Deventer. I lived there in the city centre and it was the smallest house of the city. It was attached to a big old house. To my surprise I saw that my Janet Jackson stickers are still on the window… I am wondering if someone lives there since it’s been almost ten years since I left there…

Motorola Aura

Motorola has made a limited edition phone. Costing over a grand you'd expect it to have some hi-tech smarts on board, but beneath its admittedly stylish casing, this is actually a very basic handset, with just a 2-megapixel camera, and no 3G or Wi-Fi, no document readers or push email - no memory expansion even.

This is a phone with a rotating top section that flips round 180 degrees to reveal the keyboard. The mechanism can be seen under a viewing hatch on the backplate and it looks rather like the innards of a watch thanks to its cogs. It boasts a Swiss-made main bearing and apparently more than 200 parts are involved in the opening mechanism, including 130 ball bearings.

But is it worth all that money?

Mistery Shirt

Today I was complaining about all the choices we have in a shop. I cannot choose and despite of all the choices there is nothing I like. Someone must have heard me complain about this because I've just read an article about an online shirt shop where you cannot choose your shirt.
Just a few things they want to know.
1. Male or female.
2. Size.
3. Which colour you really dislike.
4. Answer a few questions.
5. Your shirt will be send to you based on information above.

If you really hate the shirt they have send you, you can always send it back.

Celebration?!

Today I finally received my copy of the celebration DVD. I ordered it from abroad so I had to wait a bit longer. Let me start off on a positive note, the DVD set contains 47 videos on 2 DVDs. Most of her hits are on here some are missing and if I could make my own I would make some changes. But hey there’s only so much room on a 2 DVD set ;-)

Now on to the video picture quality… what happened here?? The quality is way below standard. They claim that the videos are digitally re-mastered from the original tapes but I wonder how the re-mastering is done. Even more recent videos are a bit grainy, blurry and sometimes pixilation. For some strange reason they choose to use single layer discs. I guess they had to use compression to fit all the data on a single layer disc which resulted in a lower picture quality. Another sad thing is that each video is in the 4:3 letterbox format. Why??

The audio is generally ok but stick with the PCM stereo track. There’s also a 5.1 audio mix, but this is simulated and sounds terrible.

For some reason they censored Justify My Love and the promised unedited and never before seen footage of Justify My Love is not on the disc!

There really is no excuse for this to happen, especially from a company as large as Warner and an artist as big as Madonna. Great collection, bad production!

Real Time

This evening I saw on tv a new project from Maarten Baas. It are clocks called grandfather clock, sweepers clock and analog digital clock. It are realtime movies filmed over 12 or 24 hours. In the "grandfather clock" you see a film of a man, drawing the hands of a clock. In the "sweepers clock" you see some people making the hands of a clock, by sweeping garbage all day long. In the "anolog digital clock" you see someone change the digits. There are only three grandfather clocks made and the price is about €60.000,- The other clocks you can buy on dvd and are about €600,- each.

Zusje and Beertje

Kylie, Kylie, Kylie!

This week Kylies For you For me tour started in the US. It's a short tour to thank her fans in the US for their support over the last years. Why do I like live shows of Kylie so much? What is the difference with other artist like Madonna or Britney? After seeing some videos on Youtube I know. It's the "fun" factor. Kylie really enjoys performing. You see it, you can feel it. And as a bonus she's singing live too. What more could you ask for?!

Glow Eindhoven

After seeing chair it reminded me of Glow in Eindhoven. I’ve been there last year and I really can recommend it.

Starting November 6th, 2009, the fifth edition of GLOW – International Forum of Light in Arts and Architectures will take place in Eindhoven. For 10 days the city’s center turn into an exhibition space for artists, lighting designers and architects who include light and lighting as a material, media and/or phenomena in their work.

Chair

I saw this beautiful light/art project on youtube. It has been made by Masaru Ozaki a.k.a. VJ Masaru.

Music

It’s about music, my passion, my addiction.

I can’t imagine a life without music. I do not make music, I listen. When in pain, happy, in love, down, with friends (I used to force music upon them ;-))

Tonight I was watching a show from last summer called “zomergasten” (summerguests) with Carice van Houten. She’s a well-known actress from the Netherlands. In the show they are allowed to compose their favourite television evening. In between the guests are interviewed.

The last fragment is from Antony and the Johnsons with the Metropole Orchestra. He sings a cover from Beyonce called “Crazy in Love”. Like me, Carice was blown away when she saw a concert from them the first time. That’s one of the reasons she chose to show this clip.

Here’s the clip and I guess you either love it or hate it.
